Week 3 Activity 3

For this activity, I interviewed my mother to learn more about my grandma named Sveta Bodrova. My grandma was born on ______ and is currently _______ years old. She is now retired but worked as a Russian language teacher in Russia. She still lives there and currently helps tend to my uncle and his wife’s daughter and son. She grew up in the small town of Pushchino with her mother, father, and two sisters. She has many hobbies including baking, sowing, skiing, and horseback riding. I remember seeing my grandmother several times in mu past but I do not get to see her often as she lives very far away. Overall, my grandma is a very fascinating woman who I hope to meet again in the future. Here is a picture of where she currently lives, St. Petersburg.

Week 3 Activity 4

The widget I chose to use was Countdown Clocks by mycountdown. I find this widget to be very interesting as it will show you the exact time until a certain date or certain event. I chose my widget to display the time until Christmas because I am very excited for this holiday as it is my favorite one of the year.

Week 3 Activity 5

This week I have learned a lot about using images when posting. i learned not to carelessly use images and insert them when posting something. In the past I would simply post any picture that would fit my needs even if it is copyrighted and I never gave attribution to the proper owner. Now I know that it is important to make sure I don’t use copyrighted pictures and to give proper attribution to the owner of a photo.

Week 4 Activity 1

For my blog I decorated it by altering mt header to a picture of pumpkins. I like how the pumpkins resemble both Halloween and fall so I can have it last on my blog for a while. I found the header picture on https://pixabay.com/ and there is a large variety of images there, so others can find header ideas there as well.

Week 2 Activity 2

For this activity I commented this on Mr. Smith’s blog:

Dear Mr. Smith,

Thank you so much for these helpful tips on how to comment! What I find to be the most important comment is online safety. In this generation it is very easy for others to receive access to a large amount of one’s private information through something as simple as ones last name. If this information is to fall into the hands of the wrong individual, one can find themselves in a very dangerous, even deadly, situation. It is also easy to accidentally post information about others someone is in contact with, which may put their life in peril as well. the blog that I read was titled, “10 Creative Ways to Annoy You Brother” by Charlie. I found this blog to be very interesting, for the author’s tone was very cheerful and humorous. I also found the clever ideas to be quite amusing. Thank you again for this helpful information about commenting! Here’s the link to my blog if you wish to access it: https://anastgromo2502.edublogs.org/wp-admin/post-new.php

Thanks,

Ana

Guidelines to Commenting.

Commenting on other people’s posts and blogs can be a very exctiting, fun, and engaging way for others to interact with and communicate with others online. However, while commenting on other people’s blogs may be exciting, there are stil several rules and guidelines one should follow.

1. Proofread your comment. If someone comments someothing on anothers post, whether it be constuctive criticism of a question, it is very important for them to proofread their comment. If one doesn’t proofread the comment may be very unclear and messy making it difficult for the reciever and others to understand what you are trying to state in your comment.

2. Maintain privacy. Privacy is one of the most important rules of commenting. If privacy is not maintained, other online hackers may get access to your private information through unsafe knowledge you post online.

3. Stay on topic. If a commentor curves off topic when commenting, they may change the whole coveration people are having in the comments, making the point of the post unclear.

4. Be respectful. Kindness and constructive criticism is very vital to a safe online environment. If someone is to post something disrespectful to someone’s blog in the comment section, the author of the blog may become very offended and emotionally harmed. This is also referred to as “cyber-bullying”

5. Offer constructive criticism. In many situations commenters do not comment in order to ask a question or make a statement, but they wish to offer advice as to how one’s blog may be made better. This is known as constructive criticism. Constructive criticism is always kind and upbeat to the reciever and is meant to make one’s post better by addressing the author’s mistakes in a kind fashion.

When one knows these guidelines to commenting, they will instantly become a better poerson both in the online and offline commenting world.

Week 2 Activity 4

The people who’s blogs I posted comments on are Tallula, Stella, Joaquin, and Reece.

Tallula:

Wow Tallula! I love your poem! It is so creative and describes you so well.

Stella:

Nice job Stella! I find it fascinating how we both are so similar both online and offline. I too try too remain formal when writing emails to others. Keep up the good work!

Joaquin:

Great job Joaquin! I like how your avatar is simple yet matches your appearance!

Reece:

Nice job Reece! I find it very interesting how we both act similar both online and offline!

All About My Avatar

My avatar was created on http://www.moeruavatar.com/. I based it off of features fairly identical to my own. My avatar has blonde and green eyes similar to my own, as well as a fairly simple sense of style. Overall, while my avatar cannot completely describe who I am as a person, it matches me fairly well.
